MMH in Asia Career Support

From the time our students arrive for their MMH in Asia program, we provide a wide range of career support including the career assessment (MBTI) workshop, professional career counseling, resume writing workshop, and career development coaching sessions. We conduct a series of industry roundtables where industry leaders are invited to share cutting-edge business practices in Asia focusing on the Marketing, Operations, Revenue Management and Real Estate sectors respectively. An industry and career trek to a key Asian metropolis is organized every year to visit best-practice hospitality related organizations with the aim to generate mutual interest for career opportunities. Last but not least, a professionally produced resume book is published for the class to enable our career support to promote our brand at corporate visits and events throughout the year. Acting as a boutique in-house “headhunter”, our career support coordinates corporate partners’ talent needs with specific background and training of our students to produce positive career matches.

Industry and Career Trek

Early on in the program, students join our Industry and Career Trek by traveling to key Asian cities (e.g., Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai) to be exposed to cutting-edge best practices among hospitality, service, and consulting sectors in Asia. Practicing our strong belief in “experiential learning”, this career trek opens minds and challenges perceptions, not to mention generates internship and career opportunities.

Facing a quarter-life crisis following my investment banking career, I found the MMH in Asia program to be the perfect catalyst for a successful transition into the hospitality industry. Having the benefit of the extensive Cornell network on both sides of the world gave me an invaluable opportunity to forge new connections with the industry leaders in both the US and Asia and to enhance my understanding of a global hotelier’s mindset.”
